He lived in the imagination of one of the most famous and prolific french writers of the 19th century, Alexandre Dumas, Pere, and is, to me, the symbol of loyalty, honesty, courage, devotion to justice if ever anyone could be all those things all at once. He was...
He probably was  a compilation of two different people who lived in the early 1600, though nobody really knows for sure.

Alexandre Dumas cast him as the main character of "The Three Musketeers" and made him live, love, duel and die with honor and panache. He is the perfect example of a romantic hero.

Incidentally, I have never read the chapter on the death of D'Artagnan. I always stopped right before getting there!

Interesting note is that Alexandre Dumas did not write "The Three Musketeers" like most writers write books. The story developed on a daily base as each new piece written was published as an episodic in a newspaper of the time. Eventually, the whole story was compiled into the book we now know.

A great mind... The one to which all the others are being measured. His name...

No field of research is too small nor too big to tackle with. What really matters is to put one more block on top of the construction of knowledge.

let me just say this: A. E.,.... I'm trying hard!

Certainly the greatest french man of war who ever lived and probably one of the greatest altogether, he marked the destiny of the world for much more than by his military feats. His name...
He was a master planner. In his memoires, he noted that he always prepared himself for any possible mishaps and had one or more alternate plans for any of his enterprises, whether military or civilian.

He also had a vision of what the modern world would be and viewed education as the key of the grandeur of nations. The schooling architecture that he created 200 years ago is still today's schooling architecture used in most of Europe.
